Asked to Leave after the ATS I Built Goes Live

Submitted anonymously · 3 Oct 2026

After dedicating four and a half years as a Recruitment Manager, I was asked to leave the company shortly after successfully building our internal Automated Tracking System (ATS). For 4+ yrs, I poured my expertise into streamlining our talent acquisition, managing teams, and optimizing our hiring pipelines.

Recognizing the need for a more efficient workflow, I took on the monumental task of designing and implementing a custom ATS. I wanted to leave a lasting legacy that would eliminate manual bottlenecks and scale our recruitment efforts for the future. Ironically, the very system I built to optimize the company’s hiring processes ultimately made my own role redundant.

Once the platform was fully operational, automated, and capable of handling the heavy lifting of candidate screening and workflow management, leadership decided to restructure the department.
